Cannabis-Related Investigation Underway Near Railroad Avenue In Saugus

A cannabis-related investigation is underway Thursday near Railroad Avenue in Saugus, officials said.

The Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC) is conducting an investigation related to an empty business off Railroad Avenue near Magic Mountain Parkway, according to Alex Traverso, spokesperson for the agency.

“I can confirm that this is our operation and that the operation is in progress,” Traverso said, adding additional information is expected to be released Thursday afternoon.

Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station assisted in traffic control for the operation, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.

Some residents called the Sheriff’s Station expressing concern it was related to COVID-19, Miller said in a social media post.

“If you see activity near Cinema Drive and Railroad Drive, don’t be alarmed by the blue tent, health hazmat truck. Some called expressing concern it was related to COVID-19. Nope, it’s completely unrelated. It’s an investigation into (a) separate matter by a state agency,” the post said.

The Bureau of Cannabis Control is the lead agency in regulating commercial cannabis licenses for medical- and adult-use cannabis in California, according to the agency.

Additional details on the investigation are expected to be released as the investigation unfolds, according to the BCC.
