Someone’s been growing cannabis in the woods in Plymouth

Neighbourhood officers tracked down an unexpected crop of cannabis plants after an anonymous tip off.

The officers were alerted to the crop early on Saturday at a undisclosed location in Mutley. On investigation they found nine plants, most of which were around two-and-a-half feet tall.

Officers took to Twitter to highlight their seizure, even adding a ditty to accompany pictures of officers seizing the cannabis: “If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise.

“If you go down to the woods today, you’d better go in disguise! For every weed that ever there was, is no longer there, we’re certain because today’s the day that officers seized your cannabis”.

A police spokesperson said: “It appeared someone had tried to hide them away among a number of other plants. They had grown well in this good weather and they probably would have been harvested in a few weeks time.

“Needless to say, we would encourage members of the public to alert us to the presence of illegal drugs by either calling us direct on 101 or by using the Crimestoppers number 0800 555111 where you can remain anonymous.

“The suspected cannabis plants were all retrieved and have been sent for destruction.

“If anyone has information as to the person or people who placed them there, we would urge them to contact us quoting crime reference number CR/41050/20.”
