COPS have seized £150,000 of cannabis from a car on a road in Ecclefechan.
Police recovered the drugs after halting the motor on the A74 northbound near junction 19 yesterday.
It’s understood that a 25-year-old has been arrested and charged with a number of offences following the alleged incident – including drugs offences, road traffic offences and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
He is due before Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday, 15 June, 2020.
A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Inspector Andy Mather from the Road Policing Unit said: “This recovery has stopped a significant amount of drugs from reaching the streets of Scotland.
“We will continue our work to track down those involved in this type of behaviour and take action.
“We can’t tackle this issue alone.
“We rely on the support the public give us on drugs-related issues as this helps us gather intelligence that we can act on.
“I would urge anyone with information about drugs in their local communities to contact police through 101.
“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
